Implants look and feel more like your own teeth and can be used to replace a single tooth or groups of teeth. They can also be used to anchor and stabilise dentures. It can be a life changing experience significantly improving the quality of your life for the better. Moreover, fixed teeth and a beautiful smile can restore self-confidence, self-esteem and make significant improvements to your oral and general health.

Natural Looking

Long Lasting

Dental implants offer a more permanent solution for your missing teeth. It is essentially a substitute for a natural root, resembling a cylindrically shaped screw, which is placed into the jaw bone, carefully drilled at the precise location of the intended tooth. They are a well-established, tried-and-tested treatment, with the Straumann brand we use currently being Europe's leading implant system.

The treatments for missing teeth include:

  • Bridges
  • Dentures

Bridgework is the conventional way to replace missing teeth. A dental bridge is usually used where there are fewer teeth to replace, or when the missing teeth are only on one side of the mouth. Though a common treatment choice over the past few decades, the possibility of implants now means that an implant would be the preferred treatment for a missing tooth whenever possible instead of a bridge.

Removable partial dentures (Plates)

Dentures are removable replacements for your missing teeth, designed to look and function like your own natural teeth and surrounding gum tissues.

If you have several missing teeth, then you will benefit from having dentures as they will provide support for your cheeks and lips. When we design your dentures it can reduce the amount of lines and wrinkles around your face, which has the result of producing a more youthful look.

Modern cosmetic dentures are now far more comfortable and acceptable and, in fact, you’d be surprised at how many people are actually wearing dentures without you knowing.

Implants, as described above, are also increasingly being used to provide more of a fixed support for dentures, which can even further improve speaking, eating and quality of life.

Where only a few teeth missing, a partial denture could work well for you

These are generally designed with small chrome clips which grip the surrounding teeth and hold the partial denture in place. These thinner chrome dentures, also have a more minimal feel in the mouth.

Again, it is down to precise design to ensure that these clips are minimal and, whenever possible, are not seen. We place the clips precisely, to ensure that they really do hold the denture firmly in place and do not strip the gum away from the tooth, which can happen in cheaper dentures.

If you’re looking to keep the cost of dentures lower, then this is one of the problems which can arise from poorly made dentures. Cheaper dentures have a tendency to rub against the gum, and over a period of time this can pull the gum away from the tooth as it irritates the soft tissues.

It really is important to ensure that you have good quality dentures, so sometimes paying a little more for your dentures in the long run means the cost of wearing good quality dentures is actually very low.

Bedfont Green also offeres the world's leading brand of flexible dentures: Valplast. The innovation of the Valplast flexible partial denture allows the appliance to adapt to the constant movement and flexibility in your mouth. It is also hypo-allergenic and guaranteed for life against fracture (against breakage in normal use).
